Kelam is a platform for building voice and messaging AI agents, operated by Nousdata Inc. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We collect only what the service needs to work, and we never sell your data.
01Who we are
Kelam ("we", "us") is a product of Nousdata Inc., a company incorporated in the United States (1963 Saddle Farm Ln, Naperville, IL 60564, USA). For any privacy question or request, contact us at privacy@kelam.sh.
02Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in (Google, GitHub, or phone number), we receive your verified email, name where provided, and/or phone number, used to create and secure your workspace.
- Agent configuration — the agents, prompts, tools, phone numbers, and settings you create in your workspace.
- Call data — for calls your agents place or answer, we process and store the audio recording, the transcript, and call metadata (numbers involved, time, duration, outcome, and cost).
- Message data — the content of SMS, MMS, and WhatsApp messages your agents send and receive, stored as conversation history in your workspace.
- Usage and billing data — counts, durations, and provider-usage metrics used to operate, meter, and bill the service.
- Product analytics — privacy-respecting pageview analytics (no session recording; Do Not Track honored).
03WhatsApp and Meta data
If you connect your own WhatsApp Business number to Kelam (through Meta's Embedded Signup),
you grant Kelam access to that WhatsApp Business Account so your agent can message on your
behalf. We use the WhatsApp permissions whatsapp_business_messaging and
whatsapp_business_management only to:
- send and receive WhatsApp messages between your agent and your own customers, from your own number;
- show you your own message history inside Kelam; and
- complete and maintain the connection to your WhatsApp Business Account (registering your number and subscribing to message notifications).
We do not use this data for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not share it with anyone other than the infrastructure providers listed below that are strictly needed to deliver your messages. Disconnecting your number from Kelam deletes the stored access credentials for it.
04How we use your information
We use the information above to provide, secure, and improve the service: to run your agents' calls and messages, route inbound calls and texts to the right agent, show you your calls and conversation history, meter and bill usage, prevent abuse, and provide support. We do not use the content of your calls or messages to train foundational AI models.
05Who we share it with
We share data only with the infrastructure providers ("subprocessors") that make the service work, each acting on our instructions. Providers in the call and message path are covered by Business Associate or data-processing terms where applicable.
| Twilio | Telephony (phone calls), SMS/MMS, and WhatsApp message transport. |
| Meta / WhatsApp | WhatsApp Business Platform for numbers you connect via Embedded Signup. |
| LiveKit | Real-time audio transport during a call. |
| Deepgram | Speech-to-text transcription of call audio. |
| Anthropic | The large language model that powers the agent's responses. |
| ElevenLabs | Text-to-speech for the agent's voice. |
| Amazon Web Services | Application hosting, database, and encrypted storage of recordings and secrets. |
| Cloudflare & Vercel | Content delivery and hosting of this website and the web app. |
| PostHog | Privacy-respecting product analytics (pageviews). |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a merger or acquisition (with notice).
06Data retention and deletion
We retain your account, agent configuration, calls, and messages for as long as your workspace is active, so the history and features you rely on keep working. Secrets and access tokens are stored encrypted and are deleted when you remove the resource they belong to (for example, disconnecting a WhatsApp number deletes its credentials). You can request deletion of your workspace and its data at any time by emailing privacy@kelam.sh; we will delete it within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal or accounting obligations.
07Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Secrets and access tokens are held in a dedicated encrypted secret store, separate from application data, and are never exposed to the browser. Access to production systems is restricted and audited.
08Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email privacy@kelam.sh. Individuals who call or message an agent can ask the operating business, or us, to delete their conversation data.
09Children
Kelam is a business product and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will post the new version here and update the "last updated" date above; material changes will be communicated to account owners.
